YOUR CHILD’S MEDICINE AT A GLANCE
Malirid 2.5mg Tablet DT helps treat and prevent the recurrence of malaria in children. It is usually given in combination with other antimalarial medicines. It works by killing the malaria-causing parasites and stops the infection from spreading.
Give Malirid 2.5mg Tablet DT to your child by mouth, preferably with food, to reduce the chance of an upset stomach. The dose depends on your child’s weight and the type of malaria-causing parasite. Give Malirid 2.5mg Tablet DT regularly, at about the same time each day, for as long as your doctor tells you to, even if your child seems well. Stopping it early can result in treatment failure and increase the side effects too. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Malirid 2.5mg Tablet DT, help the child calm down and repeat the same dose. However, if it’s already time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double up the dose to make for the missed one.
Malirid 2.5mg Tablet DT may cause some minor and temporary side effects in some children. These may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, dizziness, and skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, in case they persist or start bothering your child, consult your child’s doctor without any delay.
Inform the doctor of your child’s entire medical history, including any previous episodes of allergy, G-6-PD deficiency, blood problems, heart problems, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. This will help the doctor in planning your child’s overall treatment.
