PLACIDA TABLET contains Flupenthixol and Melitracen, which belong to the group of medicines called antipsychotics and tricyclic antidepressants. It is used in the management of anxiety, depression, and asthenia. It is also used to manage neurasthenia, psychogenic depression, masked depression, menopausal depression, dysphoria, depression in alcoholics and drug addicts, and psychosomatic affections that are accompanied by anxiety and apathy with depressive neuroses.
Anxiety is a feeling of fear, dread, and uneasiness that is generally characterized by symptoms such as a fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating, and tiredness. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest, leading to emotional and physical problems accompanied by symptoms such as changes in sleep, appetite, and daily behaviour.
Avoid taking PLACIDA TABLET if you are a manic patient and/or have heart diseases such as circulatory collapse, a depressed level of consciousness, blood disorders, or hereditary problems of galactose (sugar) intolerance. Before taking PLACIDA TABLET, inform your doctor if you have convulsions, organic brain syndrome, a history of suicide-related events, diabetes, planned surgeries, or reduced liver or kidney function.
PLACIDA TABLET is not recommended for use by pregnant women unless recommended by your doctor. Because it can pass through breast milk, it should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. PLACIDA TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age). The most common symptoms of taking PLACIDA TABLET are sleeplessness, restlessness, agitation, dizziness, tremors (involuntary movements of muscles), dry mouth, and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms are worse.
PLACIDA TABLET effectively manages anxiety, depression, and asthenia. Flupenthixol reduces depression and anxiety by blocking the release of dopamine. Melitracen reduces depression by increasing the level of chemical messengers in the brain that result in the regulation of mood and improvement from depression.
Take PLACIDA TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, disease condition, and body weight.
Stop taking PLACIDA TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
Consume high-fiber foods like fruits and vegetables, cereals, and plenty of water. Maintain regular exercise (going for a daily walk or run), and if this does not help, consult your doctor immediately.
Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Avoid the consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Try to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated, and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
